Resurrection (No, Not That One)

Coming in hard, playing fast and loose with the 'R' word right at the top, I am. But I'm not here to talk to you about Jesus at the moment. Sometimes I do; I'm a big fan. Right now, though, it's all about the symbolism of Spring and what it's inspiring within me that I'd like to share with you.

There's a season for everything, right? The bible says it, but the whole world says it, too. Think of all we've gone through as a planet since its beginning - the ways in which humanity has evolved, the trends we've enjoyed (or weathered), the highs and the lows. Think about our individual lives and what each person has persevered through, or succumbed to, or overcome. The fibers of our very beings are made up of our past, both individual and collective, and we stand here in April of 2025 very different from one another - yet very much the same.

Spring, as a season, is a time of growth and development The weather is unpredictable in my part of the country, but there's usually a lot of rain (I'm NOT a big fan), some breeze, cool but not cold, and then a bit of beautiful sunshine now and then. There's a great deal of mud and patchy dead-looking grass from the year before. If I'm being totally honest, it's depressing.

Until it isn't.

An emerging sprout of green next to my front porch; a tiny bud on a thin branch of the tree by the swing set! A sudden flock of robins - fat ones! - in my backyard, pecking and picking beneath the oak. After the Autumn, the Winter, the 'death'... comes Spring: the resurrection!

It's a time of new beginnings, a reminder that whatever ugliness was in the past, it can be buried and rebirthed into something beautiful going forward. Sure, there's a lot of hard work going on beneath the surface before the emerging - but it's happening! It's possible! And that very reminder is what we all need in our lives right now whether we're struggling with something individually or as a collective because it inspires us to KEEP. MOVING. FORWARD. Things can always get better, always be beautiful again, as long as we believe and take whatever steps we can take to lead ourselves and others towards that beauty.

Happy Spring - Happy Passover - Happy Easter - Happy Resurrection, whatever these things mean to you and yours. I'm here to celebrate them with you!
